Product existing packaging

Coffee packaging:

Tea packaging:

Sugar packaging:

Pasta and rice packaging:

Salt, pepper and spice packaging:

Oils and vinegars:

Most of the packaging above is often purchased from a supermarket and then emptied out into something which is either more suitable for the product or simply because the original packaging is not particularly attractive and people would like to have something nicer in the kitchen. (I have shown examples of this below).

Coffee, tea and sugar are usually purchased in card boxes or plastic/paper packets. Many people then transfer them to a more attractive form of storage such as glass jars and tins. I've found some coffee is already purchased in glass jars but are still not something you would have on show on your kitchen surface.

Pasta in particular, you would find this is mainly purchased in plastic cellophane bags and many people then put this into storage jars to have as a feature in the kitchen. This could be for visual reasons or because many pasta bags tend to tear when opened and so need to be stored in something else.

With herbs and spices, many people keep them in the original jars in which these could be put into a spice rack however you can buy spice racks which you would empty the contents out of its original packaging and put them in jars which match so the products look tidier.

Salt and pepper is often emptied into salt and pepper shakers or grinders. Again this can be for visual reasons or often you would buy salt in larger bottles and so it is easier to empty it into something smaller to have on a kitchen table.

Things like olive oil and vinegars usually already come in packaging which is suitable for the product however the visual element may be lacking which is something I want to address in this brief.

So...my idea for this brief is rather than people buying these products and having to empty them into some other form or storage and containers I am going to create packaging which you can buy in ready suitable and attractive packaging and that you would be happy to have out on your kitchen surface. This brief is therefore mainly focusing on the visual aspect however I need to make sure all the packaging I product is appropriate for its contents. I have decided this will be a new range for Waitrose as Waitrose is a higher quality supermarket which will allow for this higher quality and more expensive than usual packaging.
